Tania Ravaei is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at Indiana University Bloomington. Her research examines health, sexuality, and intimate relationships, with a focus on how young women exercise agency in their reproductive lives and how social norms and relationship experiences shape perceptions of choice and control. Her dissertation traces reproductive agency across the transition to adulthood using longitudinal data from the Relationship Dynamics and Social Life (RDSL) study. Her broader work uses survey-experimental, longitudinal, and qualitative methods to study health and politics.

Her research appears in Sex & Sexualities and Socius: Sociological Research for a Dynamic World, and is forthcoming in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion. Her work was recognized with the Best Graduate Student Paper Award from the ASA Section on the Sociology of Sexualities. Her public-facing writing has appeared in Inside Higher Ed among other outlets, and her research has been supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Irsay Institute.

Prior to her Ph.D., she was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow and graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

She lives in Bloomington, Indiana with her husband, daughter, and two cats.
